It is not too early to start the college research process now. During your junior year you should be researching schools, majors, and other college application-related activities. Apply for internships, become involved in community service, enroll in extracurricular activities that you will be able to list on your application.

Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities are breaking barriers more now than ever when it comes to college and career access. It is important to ask questions to prepare for transitioning. The following documents contain questions you can ask a college representative.
Students and parents please look at the following documents together. It is essential to be prepare yourself for the transition of adjusting to life after high school. The information below provides a detailed explanation of what you can expect, and how to prepare for the change.
Student athletes interested in college sports
One of the first things you should do is speak to your coach. Speak with your counselor as well to make sure the coach and counselor are on the same page ensuring your success.
Internships & Opportunities
Active involvement in extracurricular activities such as internships, school clubs & teams, jobs, and volunteer work is critical as a high school student. The benefits are endless: being involved provides you with the ability to understand your strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Additionally, you can expose yourself to new experiences and form lifelong partnerships and networks. Once it is time to apply to colleges it is beneficial to show them that you have had an active and productive life outside of high school.

Local program for teens that runs Mon-Fri 3-8 PM (9 PM Fridays).
Offers internships, career help, job bank and much more. RNH is just a bus ride
away from BETA, on the BX7.
Local internships located at the beautiful Wave Hill Gardens in Riverdale. Learn about
forrest restoration and engage in ecology study through several internships offered by
Wave Hill Gardens, some which offer pay and/or college credit.
Internship opportunity for teens who are interested in nature, science and working
with children.
Open to students 16 and older who have completed the 10th grade. Learn to "think
like a scientist" through exploration of scientific tools and elements. Also gain
skills working with learners of different ages.
Feeling creative? Attend this FREE Saturday program at The Cooper Union, a
prestigious college with schools in art, architecture and engineering. The program
offer classes in Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Sculpture, Sound Composition,
Architecture and Portfolio Preparation.
The Science Honors Program (SHP) is a Saturday program that runs from September
to May, for NYC high school students in grades 10-12. Apply to this program to
take science courses (i.e. chemical, biological, behavioral) taught by university
scientists and mathematicians.
